Vitamin D

It's that time of year again, Christmas is but round the corner and winter has settled in. You look outside and a cold cloaked earth looks back. The days grow shorter and darker, and you begin to murmur to yourself "Man I've got the blues".

So now would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with Vitamin D and reap the benefits it may provide. Health aficionado Nigel Kinbrum has written a most informative article on the subject here, I'd urge all to have a read.

I used to get down in the winter as it gets pretty gloomy here (Nashville, TN). I began taking Vitamin D liquid drops over a year ago, and it really helps. A blood test showed that my levels were pretty low, even though I spend a lot of time outdoors. Very thankful for my Vitamin D supplement.

Yeah, I'm wishing I could get some vitamin D, but I haven't seen the light of day for several days now, and brrrrr, it sure is cold!

Hey Tara. As you're in the US, an inexpensive source of 5,000iu Vit D3 caps is Bio-tech Pharmacal.

Their catalogue site was down when I just looked.....hopefully it'll be back up by the time you see this.

Heather & Tara,
Concur with what Nigeepoo has said.

The Bio-tech 5000iu Vit D3 is a daily part of my supplementation. They are easily swallowable capsules too which helps. Current Recommended Daily Allowances are a bit on the low side.

Ricestraw,
My skin type is probably different to yours and living in Guatemala I found that I would burn very fast, under 10 mins in fact. Below is a calculator which tells you how long you need to be out in the sun in your country to get your Vitamin D:

You can find your degrees of Longitude and Latitude via google maps.

I love your posts because it' s like re-living nutrient metabolism class all over!

Where do you get your information from? I usually try to site my sources- and I didn't seem to find any sources for all the info you posted.
